: This literature survey explores the use of low-cost IoT sensor networks for air quality monitoring on Bengaluru university campuses. These networks, integrated with cloud platforms and mobile connectivity, offer real-time, high-resolution pollution mapping. Properly calibrated using AI and machine learning, they closely match reference-grade monitors. The systems support real-time alerts, historical analysis, and public engagement, enabling informed decision-making and health advisories. They also foster research collaborations and policy development. As the technology evolves, efforts focus on improving calibration, expanding coverage, and ensuring sustainable, long-term deployment.
